Janice Janik has been responsible for the multiplatform growth of and content distribution for Smithsonian Channel since its inception and initial launch in September 2007. The Smithsonian Channel, a joint venture between Showtime and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. has secured distribution with all of the top MVPDs. Prior to her current position, she developed a significant record of achievements and broad business experience in the telecommunications industry from her 15 years at Showtime Networks.
Ms. Janik oversees the company’s distribution and affiliate marketing teams in order to maximize the networks’ distribution through cable, telco, direct-to-home satellite and over the Internet. She is tasked with developing business strategies that enable Smithsonian Channel to increase ratings and revenue associated with the channel’s content on the traditional live, linear platform as well as video-on-demand, broadband, wireless and other emerging platforms.
Ms. Janik began her career working in sales management for Frito Lay and retail operations at Southland Corporation, 7-Eleven stores. She holds a BA in International Business from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
