Elizabeth Casanas is Executive Vice President, Human Resources for Showtime Networks Inc. In this position, Casanas has responsibility for the full spectrum of human resources activities for Showtime Networks, including the Smithsonian Channel.
Previously, Casanas served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources at CNN Worldwide, where she provided strategic guidance for the cable news network and managed a team of human resources professionals domestically and abroad. Prior to that, she was the lead HR executive for TNT’s entertainment, new media, sports and news ad sales divisions, as well as for Turner Sports production and Turner Network Distribution Sales. She managed a team of human resource professionals and partnered with executive management in the development of key business initiatives.
Before her tenure at Turner, Casanas was a human resources executive for ABC News, managing Good Morning America, 20/20, Primetime Live, World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Nightline and their worldwide bureaus, operations and production units. Before that, she led the people strategy and HR support as a senior manager for Walt Disney Publishing Worldwide Inc., which included the worldwide publishing division of Disney Consumer Products, Disney Book Publishing, Global Licensing and Global Retail Magazines and Books, among others. While at Disney, Casanas coached senior management on organizational structure, employee relations, performance management and internal communications, and implemented a worldwide pilot-mentoring program within the publishing group.
Prior to that, Casanas held integral human resources positions at companies including Kozmo.com, Random House Publishing, Inc. and Ernst & Young, LLP. At Kozmo.com, she employed recruiting strategies for the company’s corporate offices and nationally-based warehouses and managed a robust staff of recruiters. In her position at Random House Publishing, Inc., Canasas led US based recruiting and restructured the campus hiring program, where she enhanced the recruting of students with advanced educational degrees. Previously, she held a position at Ernst & Young, LLP where she collaborated with tax partners in all aspects of candidate selection and workforce planning. Canasas began her career at American Practice Management Consultant, Inc., where she implemented the company’s first census database and determined the company’s headcount needs.
Elizabeth is married with two children and graduated from Hunter College with a B.A. in Communications.
