“CBS SUNDAY MORNING” IS THE #1 SUNDAY MORNING NEWS PROGRAM FOR A 634TH CONSECUTIVE WEEK AND POSTS YEAR-TO-YEAR AUDIENCE GROWTH

CBS SUNDAY MORNING posted year-to-year audience increases and marked its 634th consecutive week as the #1 Sunday morning news program, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Feb. 21.
Jane Pauley anchored the broadcast, which delivered 6.1 million viewers with 1.1 million of them in the adults 25-54 demographic. CBS SUNDAY MORNING was up +12% in viewers when compared to the same week a year ago. It was also CBS SUNDAY MORNING’s second largest audience this season. Season-to-date, CBS SUNDAY MORNING is delivering 5.806 million viewers, up +2% in viewers from the same period a year ago.
Sunday’s broadcast featured senior contributor Ted Koppel’s report on the reasons behind the skepticism and challenges of getting the COVID-19 vaccine to the underserved communities that need it the most.
Also on the broadcast, Lee Cowan sat down with Cindy McCain, the wife of the late Republican Senator John McCain, who has emerged as a voice hoping to bridge divides in the country and within her own party. Chip Reid reported on the effort to recover and restore thousands of headstones from an African-American cemetery discovered along the Potomac River outside Washington, DC. Seth Doane talked with Italian piano maker Paolo Fazioli who, with his son Luca, crafts some of the world’s finest instruments.
Additionally, Nancy Giles talked with Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award winning actor Ellen Burstyn to talk about her career and the projects she has on the horizon. Nicholas Thompson of The Atlantic reported on the mysterious death of a hiker and the two-and-a-half year search to identify him. David Sedaris reflected on his experiences at Apple’s “Genius Bar.” And Steve Hartman reported on a dedicated Pizza Hut deliveryman whose customers banded together to buy him a new car.
