THE PROGRAM ALSO CONTINUES ITS BEST COMPETITIVE POSITION ON RECORD IN ADULTS AND WOMEN THIS SEASON
CBS MORNINGS, CBS News’ flagship morning program, posted its narrowest gap in viewers with the competition and the closest gap with ABC in key adult demographics since its launch, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Oct. 8. The new morning program hosted by Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson launched on Sept 7.
For the week, CBS MORNINGS delivered 2.5 million total viewers, 527,000 of them in the adult 25-54 demo, and 311,000 among women 25-54. CBS MORNINGS pulled to within 624,000 from NBC and 764,000 from ABC. CBS MORNINGS had its narrowest gap versus ABC in 33 weeks (week of Feb. 15) on women 25-54 (-171k) and six weeks in the demo (-274k).
CBS MORNINGS is delivering the narrowest season-to-date gaps with the competition in adults 25-54 and women 25-54 dating back to 1991, when electronic records were first kept, according to Nielsen most current ratings for the first three weeks of the season.
Among adults, CBS MORNINGS has cut the gap with ABC by 23% (-285k) and with NBC by 12% (-375k).
Among women 25-54, CBS MORNINGS has cut the gap 27% (-188k) with ABC for the season and 22% (-237k) with NBC.
